I did it!

I bought a new sewing machine today. I've had one my aunt gave me about 8 years ago and it was sitting in the box forever. I tried to use it recently and found out the extension table was missing on it. Well after searching for about an hour on the internet I found a the extension for it for $25. That seemed really expensive. So I called a dealer in the area and asked her if it was worth trying to find the part and she told me it really wasn't since the machine had been sitting in the box FOREVER! I guess you need to maintain and oil them??? I had no clue since i'm NOT a sewer. So I looked quite a bit yesterday and this morning and I bought one. I'm so excited! I really think I will use it all the time. Overstock had tons of refurbished ones for 1/2 the price. I bought the extended warranty just in case. I can't wait for it to come in the mail. I want it before my class on the 8th. That way they can show me how to use it. I will let you know how good it is. Here is the bad boy I got. Janome 11574 I guess they make the Sears Kenmore models as well. All the reviews were 5 star. Here is the Kenmore equivilant: Model# 18221 Um Hello, Same machine! 50 bucks less!!!! Oh, I can't wait to use it!

Ack, it's 2010!

Ok so I didn't do what I said I was going to do. Maintain this blog and get things going. We will see if I can do it this time. I wonder how many times I will say that?
Anyhoo. I have to tell you. I am so excited! I signed up to take a sewing class. I have always wanted to learn how to sew. It drives me crazy when I can't make something that is on my mind. The boys always want me to make them a costume or something crazy. If I knew how to sew I could go hog wild! I of course would like to make new pillows for the house or curtains. I always hate the fabrics the stores sell in their curtain isles. The class I signed up for is at Crafty Planet. I came across their site when I was looking for Amy Butler's fabrics. Her stuff is so great. So here is to a new year and a new craft. I hope my bag turns out as good as this one.
